Global, a Canadian TV network, will renew Rookie Blue, a dramatic series about five rookie cops, for a third season.
This decision was jointly made with ABC, the American TV network that airs Rookie Blue. The renewal was announced because this Canadian TV series is a success both in Canada and the USA in terms of ratings.
Broadcasted on Thursday, Rookie Blue is the most watched show of that day in Canada with more than one million viewers. At the South of the 49th parallel, this Canadian TV series is the most watched series on Thursday nights among American viewers aged between 18 and 49 years old.
As in the first season, the second season still follows five rookies from the police department of a unnamed city that epically fails to pass off for an American city. The story is centred on one of these rookies, the lovely Andy McNally (Missy Peregrym). Her boyfriend happens to be Luke Callaghan (Eric Johnson), a detective.
However, Det. Jo Rosati (Camille Sullivan), Luke's former girlfriend and partner, is transferred to the precinct where Andy and Luke work. Tensions are created. Moreover, to make matters more complicated, Officer Sam Swarek (Ben Bass), Andy's former training officer, still has feelings for Andy.
The show also stars Enuka Okuma, Travis Milne, Gregory Smith, Charlotte Sullivan, Matt Gordon, Noam Jenkins, Melanie Nicholls-King and Lyriq Bent.
