Jay Baruchel (The Sorcerer's Apprentice) is developing a Canadian comedy on hockey called Goon. While his co-writer is Evan Goldberg (Superbad), the director of Goon will be Michael Dowse, who is known for making the cult comedy Fubar.
While the cast of this upcoming Canadian film hasn't been announced, the details about the story have been released online. Viewers will be following a dude called Doug Glatt, a Jewish Dolph Lundgren. Doug has been touched by the fist of God. Upon discovering both his right hook and skates, he joins a hockey team destined for the cellar and inspires them into the playoffs.
The film is in the early stage of development and received funding from the Harold Greenberg Fund. Moreover, no release date has been announced for the film.
