Almost a month ago, we learnt that the Canadian TV series Rookie Blue got renewed for a second season by Global, a Canadian TV network. On another note, according to the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC), the second season of Rookie Blue will be on production in Toronto from August 9 to December 23, 2010.
This show created by Tassie Cameron, Morwyn Brebner and Ellen Vanstone follows five police constables who were rookies in the first season. The show is centred on constable Andy McNally (Missy Peregrym), the good cop who wants to get the job done. The other officers are Dov Epstein (Gregory Smith), the thrill seeker who had hippie for parents; Chris Diaz (Travis Milne), a morally uptight man; Traci Nash (Enuka Okuma), a woman who has juggled with work and motherhood without anyone's help; and Gail Peck (Charlotte Sullivan), a mean cop whose mother was a well-respected cop in the force. As they face different challenges on the job, these five cops gain experience despite facing a certain condescension from their training officers.
The show also stars Ben Bass, Eric Johnson, Matt Gordon and Melanie Nicholls-King.
Finally, the renewal of the show by Global for a second season also means that Rookie Blue will return on ABC, an American TV network. However, no premiere date has been announced for the second season of Rookie Blue.
