After three episodes had been aired, Global, a private Canadian TV network, announced a few hours ago that its original scripted series Rookie Blue will be renewed for a second season. Moreover, the second season is being developped and will go on production in Toronto later this summer.
This show created by Tassie Cameron, Morwyn Brebner and Ellen Vanstone follows five rookie police officers (Missy Peregrym, Gregory Smith, Enuka Okuma, Travis Milne and Charlotte Sullivan) who just graduated from the Academy. Now, they're living the dream: policing the streets of Toronto, Canada's biggest city. However, while the academy has prepared them quite well, nothing prepared them for working on the street.
Other regular cast members include Ben Bass, Eric Johnson, Matt Gordon, Noam Jenkins and Melanie Nicholls-King.
Obviously, the renewal of Rookie Blue for a second season also means that the show will return on ABC, an American TV network. Finally, for the second season, let's hope that the writing on the show will be more audacious and that the show OVERTLY mentions the fact that the story takes place in Toronto, Canada.
