Sourcebooks, an independent publisher, announced yesterday that Horrid Henry, a bestselling British childbook, will be made into a 3D live-action film. This also means that Horrid Henry will make the transition from an animated series aired by the British children channel CITV to a live-action film.
First of all, the film project will be a jointventure between Vertigo Films and Novel Entertainment. The director will be Nick Moore (Wild Child).
The story of this book series written by Francesca Simon is about a kid who's in a war against adults. In the film, while the adults seem to be determined to get him, Horrid Henry must seal an unlikely alliance with his irritating brother, Perfect Peter, and an unsympathetic girl next door, Moody Margaret.
Finally, casting has already begun, with filming scheduled to take place during October and November this year. The film, to be shot entirely on location in the UK, is slated for release in 2011.
Other than that, the latest Horrid Henry book is slated for publication in August 2010 in North America. The book is titled Horrid Henry and the Abominable Snowman. Moreover, in Great Britain, the book won the Galaxy British Book Award’s Best Children's Book of the Year* in 2008.
*: Past winners of this award include J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter novel franchise.
