Since a few days, Global, a Canadian TV network, has been been showing the first TV spot for its upcoming original series Rookie Blue. Have in mind that this police dramedy created by Tassie Cameron will premiere in simulcast on ABC, an American TV network, and Global on June 24, 2010 at 9 p.m.
The TV series follows a group of five young ambitious cops from Toronto who just got out of the police academy. Obviously, the first episode documents their first day on the job.
Andy McNally (Missy Peregrym) does a serious mistake and ruins a long-running undercover drug sting. In order to fix her mistake, she decides to go face to face with a gunman related to the drug sting. The other four members of the group of five rookies are Traci Nash (Enuka Okuma), Andy's best friend and a single mom; Dov Epstein (Gregory Smith), a thrill-seeker who has been raised by hippie parents; Chris Diaz (Travis Milne), a by-the-book constable; and Gail Peck (Charlotte Sullivan), the group's politico who thinks about the day she'll be the chief of police.
Add to this Detective Sam Swarek (Ben Bass), a rogue training officer, and Luke Callaghan (Eric Johnson), a charming workaholic homicide detective, and Andy will have more on her hands on and off the beat then she could have ever foreseen.
Finally, guest starring in the first episode (titled “Fresh Paint”) are Peter MacNeill as Tommy McNally, Aidan Devine as Sergeant Boyko, Sarain Boylan as Sadie Falls and Devon Bostick as Martin Bentz.
