Preview of Miniseries 'The Pillars of the Earth'

Fans of medieval history, Starz, an American premium cable network, has released online the preview of the upcoming Canadian miniseries The Pillars of the Earth. The show will premiere in the USA on July. However, The Movie Network and Movie Central, which are respectively two premium cable networks from Eastern and Western Canada, haven't announce a Canadian premiere date yet.

Produced with a budget of $40 million, this co-production between Canada and Germany is based on a novel by Ken Follett. Moreover, it takes place in England during the 12th century.

Against this backdrop, human dramas and love stories entwine: Tom (Rufus Sewell), the master builder, Aliena (Hayley Atwell), the noblewoman, the sadistic Lord William (David Oakes), Philip (Matthew Macfadyen), the prior of Kingsbridge, Jack (Eddie Redmayne), the artist in stone work and Ellen (Natalia Wörner), the woman from the forest who casts a curse. At once, this is a sensuous and enduring love story and an epic that shines with the fierce spirit of a passionate age.

Other stars of the miniseries include Donald Sutherland (The Italian Job), Gordon Pinsent (Away From Her), Alison Pill (Milk) and Sarah Parish (Merlin).

Finally, here's the preview.
